Korea Rocks UK Tour Dates and Information
Recently news spread of Korean rock concerts that would be happening around the UK featuring four groups that have made headlines as groups to watch since debuting. Koreanindie.com late in March were the first media outlet to announce all the dates and cities for the April/May Korea Rocks UK tour featuring Galaxy Express, Apollo 18, Goonamguayeoridingstella (구남과여라이딩스텔라) and Gate Flowers for the public and now here at Beyond Hallyu we are sharing the official lowdown for what we are calling the rock event of the year!
Korea Rocks will showcase some of the top talents in the country’s rock music scene during a UK tour that will include appearances at the Focus Wales and Liverpool Sound City music festivals and club shows in Kent, London, and Manchester. Wristbands or tickets will be required for the festival shows at Focus Wales and Liverpool Sound City, but the Korea Rocks club gigs in Kent, London, and Manchester will be free concerts!
Tour dates for Korea Rocks:
April 24: Kent, England @ Tunbridge Wells Forum
April 26: Wrexham, Wales @ The Bank (Focus Wales)
April 27: Wrexham, Wales @ Yales Café Bar (Focus Wales)
April 28: London, England @ Barfly
May 1: Manchester, England @ Night & Day Café

May 4: Liverpool, England @ Kazimier Gardens (Liverpool Sound City)
The line-up for the first Korea Rocks features:
– Psychedelic garage rock/punk act Galaxy Express (2011 Musician of the Year / 2009 Best Rock Album winner at the Korean Music Awards)
– Post hard-core/post-rock act Apollo 18 (2010 Rookie of the Year at the Korean Music Awards)
– Hard rock / alt-rock act Gate Flowers (2011 Rookie of the Year / 2011 Best Rock Song winner at the Korean Music Awards)
– Groovy psychedelic soul/pop act Goonamguayeoridingstella or “Goonam” (nominated for Best Modern Rock Album at the 2012 Korean Music Awards)
In an article posted by Koreanindie in March it was also pointed out that each of the groups taking part in the Korea Rocks UK Tour had before in some way worked together with Hyundai Card Music. Galaxy Express recorded a collaboration music video with them with “너와 나” last year, which was followed by Goonam the following month with “피”:
Whilst the two previous groups collaborated on music videos with Hyundai, Gate Flowers and Apollo 18 chose to instead take part in the Hyundai Card pop-up store September last year. No matter how or where each of the groups worked with Hyundai Card music Korean UK rock fans should definitely take time out to attend one of the seven events! (I myself will be attending the London Barfly gig).
